World-renowned photographer Anne Geddes and her husband, Kel, stopped by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in October, the day before she was inducted into the Ambassador David M. Walters International Pediatric Hall of Fame at Diamond Ball: An Evening in the Garden. Ms. Geddes is known for her portraits of babies, so naturally, she and her husband visited the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) where they met some of our smallest, most vulnerable patients. The couple spoke to families in the unit, offering their support and words of encouragement.

Over the course of her 30-year career, Ms. Geddes has coupled her art with the desire to give back. A portion of the sales from her products go toward the prevention of child abuse and neglect through the Geddes Philanthropic Trust. She also partnered with the United Nations’ Every Woman, Every Child initiative in 2012, and she became a Global Advocate for the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, which aims to provide basic life-saving immunizations to children in the developing world.

In recognition of her compassion and life’s work dedicated to photographing and helping children, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation honored Ms. Geddes at Diamond Ball: An Evening in the Garden by inducting her into the Ambassador David M. Walters International Pediatric Hall of Fame. This is the highest honor bestowed by the foundation, recognizing individuals from all walks of life who have demonstrated a passionate commitment to help ensure the health and happiness of children on a global scale.
